Michael Collinge MIET

Technical Director | Electrical and Renewable Energy Specialist | Standards, Competence and Education

Michael has more than 30 years’ experience across electrical installation, inspection and testing, renewable energy, certification, technical governance and education. He began his career as an electrical apprentice in 1993 and progressed through contracting, assessment, teaching, internal quality assurance, qualification development and national technical leadership.

In his current professional role, Michael is Technical Director of the Flexi-Orb Renewables Scheme. He also chairs the City & Guilds Employer Industry Board for Building Services Engineering, the Energy Storage Association Safety Committee and BSI SGG/0 Energy Storage Governance and serves as a UK expert in IEC and CENELEC work on electrical energy storage and Solar PV.

Michael is a Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology, holds a JIB Approved Electrician Gold Card and has maintained NAPIT membership since 2009. Through Collinge Technical Solutions, he provides technical consultancy, standards and compliance support, renewable energy expertise, competence and SKEB development, educational consultancy, assessment and internal quality assurance.

Founder

Peter Collinge IEng MIET

Founder and Senior Technical Consultant

Peter established P Collinge Electrical in May 1974, creating the foundation from which Collinge Technical Solutions developed. His career began as an EITB apprentice electrician in 1969 and spans electrical contracting, inspection and testing, further education, assessment, quality assurance and qualification development.

Peter served as NICEIC qualifying supervisor for the family business from 1983 to 2010 and has held roles including lecturer, programme leader, curriculum manager, City & Guilds External and Technical External Quality Assurer, NAPIT field officer and microgeneration assessor. His experience covers electrical installation, renewable technologies, security systems, smart metering, EV charging and the development of learning and assessment resources.

Peter is an Incorporated Engineer, a Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology and an IET Professional Registration Interviewer. He maintains NAPIT membership and contributes extensive technical, educational and quality-assurance experience to Collinge Technical Solutions.

Third Party Certification — independent inspection, testing and certification of electrical installation work undertaken by others, where authorised under Schedule 3A of the Building Regulations.
